Getting Started on Planet Calypso
Planet Calypso is the original planet of Entropia Universe, developed by MindArk themselves and the birthplace of the entire real-cash economy. If you're a new player landing here from Steam, you're in the right place — Calypso has the most content, the largest player base, and the most developed infrastructure of any planet in the game.
Starting Out: Sweating and Early PED
Almost every veteran on Calypso started with sweating — using the free Vibrant Sweat skill to collect Mind Essence from creatures. It costs nothing, earns a small amount of PED over time, and teaches you the fundamentals of the economy. The Twin Peaks area and Port Atlantis surroundings are the classic sweating grounds.
Key Locations on Calypso
Port Atlantis is the main starting city and trade hub. You'll find the auction house, trade terminals, and most new players here. Nymphtown (now Jason Centre) and Fort Ithaca are popular hunting spots for beginners. Calypso Land Deeds (CLD) are some of the most traded financial instruments in the game — each deed pays a dividend from planet revenue. Entropia uses Entropia Exchange, where you can buy and sell shares of regions and planets; you receive a dividend paid over time from the revenue of that region or planet.
Hunting, Mining, and Crafting
Calypso has the widest variety of creatures in the game — Atrax, Berycled, Cornoanterion, Daikiba, and hundreds more. For miners, Calypso has extensive ore and enmatting deposits across the surface and in Calypso Space. Crafters will find the largest blueprint library in Entropia, with everything from weapons to vehicles.
Resources and Community
The Planet Calypso Forum is the most active Entropia community online. For maps, CalypsoMap.com is the best reference. New players should also check out the in-game mentor system — finding an active mentor gives you bonus skills during your Disciples period.
Calypso is vast and can be overwhelming at first, but its depth is exactly what keeps players engaged for years. Take it slow, keep your deposits small while learning, and you'll find your niche.
